AROMA & CHARACTER

This Karigane is made from Gyokuro grapes – and you can taste it immediately: The cup is clear and velvety, with soft umami, mild sweetness, and an almost creamy finish. The aroma reveals a green depth without ever feeling heavy – like a bright, sweet Gyokuro with a smoother drinkability. Typical of high-quality Karigane: very low bitterness, hardly any astringency – ideal for those seeking depth without harshness.

THE TEA FARM

TEA ART FROM SOO, KAGOSHIMA

The Karigane tea used comes from southern Japan: Soo, Kagoshima – known for its shady highland gardens and clear, structured teas.
The grapes were harvested in April 2025 from the first spring flush (“Shincha”) – using the cultivar Saemidori, which is prized for its bright green cup, mild profile and pronounced sweetness.
The plants were shaded for over 3 weeks and then gently processed (Asamushi style / short steaming).
The stems and leaves come from Gyokuro production – which clearly distinguishes this tea from the “classic” Kukicha.
