AROMA & CHARACTER

The aroma offers warm malt sweetness, cocoa shell, and dark honey; followed by dried plum and a hint of red berry. On the palate, it is velvety and rounded: honey and rock candy carry the cup, beneath which lies a subtle spice warmth and a soft, ripe astringency that provides structure without becoming dry. A shorter brew results in a clearer, fruitier, and brighter flavor; a longer brew makes it maltier, more cocoa-forward, and reveals that typical Yunnan earthiness in the finish. Later brews remain smooth and warm, with a gentle length.

Honey

The high proportion of tea leaves brings honey and rock candy notes that make the cup soft and round.

A warm malt base and cocoa shell provide volume, depth, and a calm, dark elegance.

The afterglow leaves a clean, slightly earthy warmth that lasts a long time without feeling heavy.

THE TEA FARM

yournoema_puerh_trocknungshaufen - Noema

High-altitude black tea from Yunnan

Special Golden Black originates from Yunnan, from forested highlands at approximately 1,800–2,100 m. In the cooler climate, the large-leaved Assamica varieties grow more slowly; the shoots develop dense aromatic compounds and delicate, golden buds. Harvesting takes place during the short spring window (late March to mid-April) when the tips and young leaves are at their sweetest and most tender.

After withering, the leaves are gently rolled, oxidized under controlled conditions, and then carefully dried. The high proportion of tips contributes the honey-like sweetness and cocoa hue; the leaf base provides a malty body and the calm, earthy depth typical of Yunnan.

TEA FARM

Selected from small, high-altitude gardens with selective hand-picking in spring.

TERROIR

1,800–2,100 m, cool mountain climate, forested surroundings and mineral soil – for density, sweetness and clear structure.

ORIGIN

Yunnan black tea made from large-leaf Assamica cultivars (“Da Ye Zhong”) with a high proportion of golden buds.

The tea

Special Golden Black

This tea thrives on its unique ratio of bud to leaf. The golden tips release their aromas early: honey, rock candy, cocoa shell – soft and smooth. The larger leaves follow later, adding depth: malt, warm wood, an earthy, clean finish. This is precisely why it works so well with two infusions.

If you want to control its character, work with the steeping time. A short steeping time results in a clear, honey-sweet tea with fruity notes. A longer steeping time makes it darker, maltier, and reveals more cocoa and spice without becoming bitter. Ideal if you're looking for a black tea that has body but isn't overpowering.

PREPARATION

Pour 2.5 g per 200 ml of water at 100°C .
2 infusions : 3 min. sweet & cocoa
5 min. spicier & stronger

CAFFEINE CONTENT

Moderate to strong (typical of black tea): warming, steady alertness with calm focus. Ideal from mid-morning to late afternoon; in the evening only if well tolerated.

CUP COLOR

A deep, coppery amber with golden reflections – the longer the brewing time, the richer and darker the cup appears.
