Green tea

Kabusecha Miyazaki

Kabusecha Miyazaki is a fine, semi-shaded tea from Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu. Shortly before harvesting, the tea bushes are covered with nets to reduce light exposure, resulting in a particularly smooth, sweet umami profile with a delicate sencha freshness. Our batch is organically grown and combines the Yabukita and Asanoka cultivars. A tea for those seeking depth and clarity in their cup – with a velvety mouthfeel and vibrant green leaves.

AROMA & CHARACTER

Delicate umami, elegant freshness, and a subtle sweetness – Kabusecha combines the smoothness of a Gyokuro with the clarity of a fine Sencha. Depending on the temperature, either more sweetness or more structure comes to the fore. On the palate, the tea is velvety, almost creamy, with a mild finish and hardly any bitterness.

THE TEA FARM

Kabuse cultivation in Miyazaki

Miyazaki is an important tea region on Kyushu. For Kabusecha, the tea bushes are partially shaded shortly before harvesting; this helps to preserve more amino acids, which emphasizes sweetness and umami.
The processing is similar to Sencha: steaming (here: asamushi / lightly steamed), rolling, and drying. The result is a tea that is more aromatically concentrated than classic Sencha profiles, but remains lighter and fresher than Gyokuro.

TEA FARM

Tea gardens focusing on single-variety shade-grown tea – not industrial mass-produced goods, but batches with character.

TERROIR

Miyazaki offers plenty of light, but also humid fog and volcanic soils – this promotes sweetness, depth and a fine balance.

ORIGIN

A Kabusecha between worlds – ideal for anyone looking for a Japanese green tea with umami, but without the heaviness of a Gyokuro.
