AROMA & CHARACTER

Roasted nut, cocoa, and a gentle floral note characterize the first cup. With each infusion, the profile unfolds further, revealing brown sugar, rocky minerality, and a hint of rock candy. The texture remains silky, the finish cool and clear. The roast is present but integrated—no bitterness, hardly any astringency. A tea for focused moments, ideal from mid-morning until late afternoon.

THE TEA FARM

Tea art from the Wuyi Mountains

Da Hong Pao comes from the heart of Wuyi Shan – a region with steep cliffs, frequent fog, and volcanic-sedimentary soil. The so-called "Yan Yun" – the rock note – arises from this special combination of terroir and traditional processing.

The production follows the classic Yancha style: withering, yaoqing (gentle nudge), short oxidation, pan-fixing, rolling and multi-stage charcoal roasting – each with resting phases for harmonization.

The result: depth, warmth, clarity – completely without additives.

TEA FARM

Selected small batches with a focus on traditional processing, gentle roasting & mineral expression.

TERROIR

Rocky-mineral soil, frequent fog and high humidity create a microclimate with character.

ORIGIN

Da Hong Pao is a classic "Wuyi Yancha" – made from regionally typical cultivars such as Qi Dan or Bei Dou. Not a mass-produced item, but a handcrafted product with depth.

The tea

Da Hong Pao

A classic rock-cut oolong from the Wuyi Mountains, medium-oxidized and charcoal-roasted multiple times. The carefully rolled, striped leaf reveals a warm depth in the cup with notes of roasted nut, dark wood, and delicate cocoa sweetness.

With each round, the profile changes: The opening is soft and roasty, then candy-like sweetness, rocky minerality, and a clear, almost cool elegance emerge. The roast remains integrated – never dominant, but balancing.

A tea with substance and versatility – from nutty and warm to floral and precise.
