AROMA & CHARACTER

The opening is bright and citrusy, with the typical orchid/gardenia scent that immediately makes its presence felt. On the palate, the tea is silky and mildly sweet, without any noticeable harshness; the bitterness remains low, the astringency fine and ripe. With each subsequent infusion, the cup becomes more rounded: hints of rock candy and honey emerge, accompanied by a cool, mineral freshness in the finish that lingers cleanly for a long time.

Roasting

The orchid/gardenia scent immediately takes center stage, without perfume overload or heaviness.

The texture appears round and smooth, even if you let it stretch a little too long.

After the sip, a cool, mineral sweetness lingers, making you want another infusion.

Anxis Oolong legacy

Tie Guan Yin is a classic oolong from Anxi (Fujian) – a region known for its fragrant, lightly oxidized oolong styles. Misty hills, humid mountain air, and mineral-rich soils promote a bright sweetness and the typical orchid aroma. It is processed using the Qing-Xiang method: After withering, the leaves are gently shaken (yaoqing) to release their aromas, then oxidation is stopped early (shaqing). The leaves are then tightly rolled into small balls and gently dried to allow the tea to open in a controlled manner over several infusions. The result is a natural oolong without added flavorings – floral, silky, and with a clean finish.

TERROIR

Humid mountain air, frequent fog and mineral soils provide cool clarity, bright sweetness and floral precision.

ORIGIN

Anxi, Fujian – origin and style here stand for “Qing Xiang”: lightly oxidized, aromatic, without roasted notes.

The tea

Tie Guan Yin

Tie Guan Yin is a tea that works through unfolding: The tightly rolled leaves release primarily fragrance and a light sweetness in the first infusion, after which the tea gradually develops its full flavor. A short rinse can help to open the leaves evenly and make subsequent infusions more stable.
Controlling the brewing process is simple: shorter brewing times keep the tea crystal clear and floral; longer brewing times bring out more body, nutty depth, and a warm, candy-like quality without quickly becoming bitter. When the leaves are fully unfurled, the tea reaches its most tranquil phase: sweet and mineral, with a cool finish and a very clean character.

PREPARATION

Pour 2.5g per 200ml of water at 80–85°C .
3 infusions : 2 min. fresh & floral / 3 min. rounder & nuttier

CAFFEINE CONTENT

Moderate, often perceived as calm and clear (theanine-dominant): focuses attention without being overstimulating. Use in the evening only if well tolerated.

CUP COLOR

Bright gold, clear and luminous; with a longer steeping time, it becomes somewhat fuller and rounder.
