This is how the tea tastes

AROMA & CHARACTER

On the nose, forest floor, dark wood, and a dry cocoa note; on the palate, dense yet surprisingly smooth, with a rounded texture and a sweetness that seems more like molasses than sugar. Short draws keep the cup clear and clean, while longer extraction brings more depth and earthy warmth. Across multiple infusions, the character remains stable: velvety, dark, and serene – with a long, warming finish.

One nest produces a consistently deep cup without any calculation – ideal when speed is of the essence.

A short rinse opens the pressed leaf and immediately makes the first "real" infusion smoother.

Multiple infusions continue to brew evenly without becoming bitter – perfect for a long, leisurely experience.

THE TEA FARM

Yunnan, pressed as a mini-Tuo

Pu Erh Mini Tuo Cha is based on mature Shou Pu-Erh from Yunnan in southwest China – the region where Pu-Erh traditionally originates. After harvesting, the leaves are sun-dried and then matured into Shou through a controlled aging process (Wo Dui, heap fermentation).

Only after this maturation is the tea briefly steamed and pressed into small Tuo-Cha nests. This shape is not a gimmick: it ensures even extraction, simplifies portioning, and allows the tea to continue developing undisturbed within the nest. The result is a dark, mellow cup with an earthy warmth, clear structure, and a long finish – all-natural, without additives.

TEA FARM

Selected from classic Pu-Erh regions in Yunnan, with a focus on clean fermentation and a clear, odorless cup.

TERROIR

Warm, humid microclimates and mineral soils provide the leaf material for the typical shou depth and dark, round texture.

ORIGIN

Mini-Tuo Cha is a traditional form for dosing and storage: compact, stable, made for many infusions.

The tea

Pu Erh Mini Tuo Cha

Mini Tuo Cha is portioned Shou Pu-erh, but the exciting part isn't the shape – it's how it brews. Because it's pressed, the tea doesn't dissolve evenly all at once: the first few sips only open the outer layers, then the water gradually works its way into the nest. This is precisely how that typical Shou dynamic is created: initially dense and dark, then rounder, softer, and sweeter, without ever becoming overpowering.

For optimal results, a short rinse (5–10 seconds) is recommended – not because you "need to wash" the leaves, but because the steam-pressing process packs them very tightly. The rinse warms the nest, loosens the surface, and makes the first actual infusions significantly clearer.

Control the tea with time rather than temperature: the water can be boiling, but the brewing time is your regulator.

PREPARATION

Pour 1–2 Mini-Tuo per 200 ml of water at 100°C .
5 infusions : 1 min. soft & round / 2 min. deeper & earthy

CAFFEINE CONTENT

mild–moderate (typical of shou) | Rather warming and centering, often well tolerated even later in the day.

CUP COLOR

Dark mahogany to deep ruby brown – the longer the brewing time, the denser and darker the cup appears.
